Blaine Voyage

Mike wrote about Oahu (thanks, Mike). From Oahu, we couldn’t really get it together to take off for New Zealand, so we decided (it was tough) to spend another week in Hawaii, this time at a vacation rental on Maui (FYI, we had much better luck with VRBO in Hawaii than with AirBnB — prices were much more affordable). We lucked out with a one bedroom apartment in the Honua Kai resort in the Kanapaali resort area on Maui’s west side. The resort provided us with a vacation from traveling. We took a day trip up to Haleakala’s summit (photos below), but other than that we pretty much sat by the pool, hung out, and went to see the new Star Wars movie (spoiler: we all loved it). Given how little we did, there isn’t a lot for us to say about Maui other than that it was relaxing to unwind, celebrate the Doug Jones win with Mai Tais on our lanai, and enjoy luxuriating a little bit. Below is our week in photos (first of hanging out by the resort, including our surprise visit on the last day with our friends from Toronto, who arrived to stay at the resort next door the night before we left), although I’m sticking Haleakala in a separate post.
